Me(dia), my phone and I part 2

As I said before one of our assignments in the course I’m attending is about writing about all the functions that our cellphone has. Unfortunately I don’t think they thought of my phone while thinking in terms of new media. Actually I have two phones. The first one is a Nokia 3210 which was top-notch when I got it… which was about 8 years ago. With today’s standards I would guess that it is more suitable and effective as a murder weapon than a phone. Not that I would use it like that of course. I couldn’t actually find the phone’s manual – which in it self says a lot about the phone – but basically you can use it to call people with as well as sending and receiving text messages. It also has calculator, a clock and a calendar. And it doesn't have a colour screen... spooky.

My other phone is not as old, but I reckon that is has about the same functions. Apart from the usual things I listed above it also have internet browser (wap) – but since I don’t have it activated due to economical reasons I can’t use it. To my defence I bought the phone as an easy-to-use phone for phone calls and text messaging. It did find the manual for this one online. An interesting point of view is that a friend of mine – who’s taking the same course and therefore has the same assignment – wrote about his phone in his blog and after finding my manual I thought that it could be interesting to compare his with mine. I don’t want to go in details since all his functions is listed in his blog, but the most obvious point to make is that his phone’s manual is a 140 pages long, while the manual for mine is 74.

Returning to the functions on my phone it also has a radio and an alarm function. It is also possible to use and download Java-programs – but since it has one program to start with and I don’t have the wap function on I can’t really do much with it.

That is everything about my phones. Perhaps I’ll get a new one soon, but for the moment I’ll stick with these two.
